Nikita Thomas, a 34-year-old 911 dispatcher in Atlanta, tragically lost her life on September 25, 2011, during an attempted carjacking. Thomas and her boyfriend were targeted by armed assailants after leaving Greenbrier Mall. The attackers demanded money and opened fire, fatally wounding Thomas' boyfriend. Despite his injuries, he managed to drive their vehicle a short distance before the car crashed into a MARTA bus, killing Thomas on impact.
