On the afternoon of January 4, 2016, the body of 24-year-old Derron Holcomb, a Black male, was discovered in Creel Park in a suburban area of Atlanta, Georgia. A woman walking through the park came across Holcomb's body near the wood line around 5:15 p.m. and alerted the authorities.
The Fulton County Police Department responded to the scene and began their investigation. It was determined that Holcomb had died from an apparent gunshot wound earlier that same day.
The case was immediately treated as a homicide, and detectives began the arduous process of trying to piece together the events that led to his death. Despite their efforts to develop leads, no arrests have been made in connection with the murder.
In the years following Holcomb's death, his case has grown cold, leaving his family with unanswered questions and a profound sense of loss. His mother, Linda Mckee, has been a vocal advocate for justice, refusing to let his memory fade. In an effort to generate new leads, a GoFundMe campaign was created to raise money for his burial and to offer a reward for any information that would lead to the arrest and conviction of the individual or individuals responsible for his death.
