On the afternoon of January 4, 2016, the body of 24-year-old Derron Holcomb, a Black male, was discovered in Creel Park in a suburban area of Atlanta, Georgia. A woman walking through the park came across Holcomb's body near the wood line around 5:15 p.m. and alerted the authorities.

The Fulton County Police Department responded to the scene and began their investigation. It was determined that Holcomb had died from an apparent gunshot wound earlier that same day. The case was immediately ...
