On January 20, 2023, 38-year-old Jacob Abney of Grandview, Missouri, died from gunshot wounds during an incident in Keytesville, Missouri. The altercation occurred at the residence of 52-year-old Sherri Laws and her fiancé, 50-year-old James Johnson. Authorities were dispatched to the scene following a 911 call from Laws, who reported that an unknown man had attempted to break into her home, resulting in her fiancé being shot twice.
