Elijah Hughes, a 16-year-old male, Black/African American, left home on the morning of July 11, 2025, riding his bicycle through St. Louis’s Walnut Park East neighborhood. Just before 10:30 a.m., gunfire shattered the quiet near Lillian and Genevieve. Struck multiple times, Elijah Hughes ran toward the 5000 block of Beacon Avenue, where officers found him gravely wounded. He was rushed to a hospital, but the injuries were too much; Elijah Hughes died the same day in Saint Louis, Missouri.
