Early in the morning on Thursday, February 23, 2023, a grim discovery was made in the Ville neighborhood of St. Louis, Missouri. Around 2:30 a.m., officers from the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department responded to a call regarding suspicious activity and the sound of gunfire in the area. Upon their arrival at the scene, they located the body of a 17-year-old male, identified as Dontaevion Little, lying in a rear alley within the 4200 block of St.
Ferdinand Avenue.
Investigators initially noted that Dontaevion had sustained visible puncture wounds, though it was not immediately confirmed by authorities at the scene whether these injuries were the direct result of the reported gunfire. He was pronounced dead at the location. The teenager resided nearby in the 4000 block of Kennerly Avenue, only a short distance from where he was found. Homicide detectives took over the case to determine the exact sequence of events that led to his death.
At the time of the initial investigation, law enforcement officials stated that they had no suspects in custody. Despite the reports of shots fired in the vicinity prior to the discovery, no arrests were immediately made, and police urged anyone with information to come forward to assist with the ongoing inquiry into the teenager's death.
