On the evening of June 5, 2019, a violent altercation unfolded in the front yard of a residence in the northern section of Saint Louis County, Missouri, leading to the untimely death of 19-year-old Dwayne Green Jr. Police officers were alerted to the scene on the 10600 block of Linnell Drive in Florissant at approximately 7:19 p.m. after a gunshot detection system registered gunfire in the quiet neighborhood.
Upon their arrival, first responders discovered Green lying in the yard,
suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Despite the immediate presence of law enforcement and emergency personnel, the young man’s injuries proved fatal, and he was pronounced dead at the scene. The incident reportedly began as a physical confrontation, with investigators determining that the shooting occurred while Green was actively assaulting another individual at the location.
A 21-year-old male suspect was present at the scene and was subsequently taken into custody by St. Louis County police. Initial reports from the department indicated that the suspect discharged his weapon in response to the assault Green was allegedly perpetrating against a third man. While the shooter was detained for questioning immediately following the event, authorities did not publicly release his identity at the time, nor were subsequent updates regarding formal charges or a trial widely disseminated in the years following the investigation.
