On February 27, 2023, David Saldana, aged 44, was fatally shot in downtown St. Louis, Missouri. The incident occurred around 10 a.m. on Tucker Boulevard, near the former Globe-Democrat newspaper building. Prior to the shooting, Saldana and the suspect, Deshawn Thomas, 23, had engaged in an altercation at a nearby Shell gas station on Convention Plaza.
