On March 27, 2023, 51-year-old Donald Ray "Little Donnie" Barton Jr. was fatally shot near Neals Creek Road, close to the Bixby General Store in Bixby, Missouri. Motorists discovered Barton lying in the road with a gunshot wound to his stomach around 8:00 p.m. He was airlifted to Missouri Baptist Hospital in Sullivan, where he succumbed to his injuries shortly after arrival.
