In the spring of 2023, the life of 16-year-old Zechariah Steven Washington was tragically cut short in a burst of daylight violence in Kansas City, Missouri. On the afternoon of Tuesday, May 23, officers were called to an apartment complex in the 8200 block of Forest Avenue following reports of gunfire. In the parking lot, they found Zechariah with a gunshot wound. Emergency medical services were treating him at the scene before he was rushed to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
