On the evening of July 22, 2023, emergency services in Raytown, Missouri, responded to what initially appeared to be a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of 67th Street and Blue Ridge Boulevard. The call came in around 9:50 p.m., but upon arrival, officers discovered a more tragic scene. Inside one of the vehicles was 31-year-old Jeremiah Plowden of Kansas City, who was found to have sustained fatal gunshot wounds.
Witnesses in the area reported hearing multiple gunshots, with one
person recalling the sound of eight or nine shots near a bank, followed by a car speeding through a traffic light. Despite the quick response from first responders, Jeremiah Plowden was pronounced dead at the scene. The Raytown Police Department launched a homicide investigation into his death.
As of late 2024, the investigation into Jeremiah Plowden's murder remained ongoing, with no arrests having been made and no suspects publicly identified. Authorities have continued to appeal to the public for any information that might lead to a breakthrough in the case. The incident was noted as the second homicide in Raytown that year.
