On August 28, 2023, 25-year-old Kayla Patterson was found fatally shot inside her residence at the Whisper Lake Apartments in Black Jack, Missouri. Authorities discovered her body around 9 p.m. Kayla was the niece of Ferguson Police Chief Troy Doyle, who expressed profound heartbreak over her death.
