On the evening of January 12, 2022, officers from the St. Louis County Police Department were dispatched to a residence in the 2900 block of Atlantic Park Avenue, situated in unincorporated St. Louis County just north of Florissant, Missouri. When authorities arrived at the scene around 7:00 p.m., they located two individuals who had been struck by gunfire. One of the victims was identified as 33-year-old female Latoyria Johnson, who lived on the same block where the shooting occurred.
Beside her, an adult male was also found suffering from gunshot wounds.
Emergency responders transported both victims to a nearby hospital for immediate medical attention. The male victim's injuries were found to be non-life-threatening, and he was treated and subsequently released. However, Johnson had sustained critical injuries that required intensive care. She remained in the hospital for nearly two weeks, but despite medical intervention, she succumbed to her wounds and was pronounced deceased on January 24, 2022.
Following her death, the St. Louis County Police Department's Bureau of Crimes Against Persons led the homicide investigation. Detectives canvassed the area and appealed to the public for any information that could help identify the perpetrator or perpetrators involved in the incident. As of the last available updates regarding the case, no arrests had been reported, and the investigation remained active.
