In a tragic turn of events on a Sunday evening in Florissant, Missouri, 40-year-old Linda Abukanan lost her life in what authorities have described as a murder-suicide. The grim discovery was made after the children of Linda and her husband, 43-year-old Mahmoud Abukanan, fled their home on Man O' War Drive during a heated argument between their parents.
The children sought refuge at a neighbor's house, prompting the neighbor to check on the welfare of the couple.
Upon entering the home, the neighbor found both Linda and Mahmoud Abukanan deceased in the basement. Police reports indicate that Linda Abukanan had been shot multiple times.
Law enforcement officials have stated their belief that Mahmoud Abukanan fatally shot his wife before turning the gun on himself. A firearm was recovered at the scene. He was found with a single gunshot wound, which was likely self-inflicted. The couple, who had moved into the residence the previous November, had six children together. Five of their children were living in the home at the time of the incident.
