On the afternoon of October 20, 2023, a violent altercation in Velda City, a municipality within St. Louis County, Missouri, resulted in the tragic death of 18-year-old Myyo Lanos. The young male victim, who was a resident of the area living on Lucas and Hunt Road, became the subject of a homicide investigation after local authorities received a call regarding a shooting.
The incident occurred in the 7000 block of Glenmore Avenue, a residential street where peace was shattered by gunfire shortly before 5:20 p.m.
Officers from the Velda City Police Department were the first to respond to the scene, discovering Lanos lying in the street suffering from at least one gunshot wound. Despite the immediate police response, the injuries proved fatal, and he was pronounced dead at the location. The initial inquiry by law enforcement indicated that the shooting was not a random act of violence but rather the escalation of a dispute between Lanos and another individual.
Following the shooting, the unidentified male suspect reportedly fled the scene before authorities arrived, evading immediate capture. The Velda City Police subsequently requested the assistance of the St. Louis County Police Department’s Crimes Against Persons detectives to lead the investigation. As of the last available public reports following the incident, the shooter remained at large, and no arrests had been announced in connection with the case. Detectives continued to appeal to the public for any information that could help identify the person responsible for ending the teenager's life.
