On November 16, 2023, at approximately 9:00 p.m., 17-year-old DeMarcus Anthony Houston Jr. and his 26-year-old brother, Marquise Leman Rose, were fatally shot near the IHOP at 4149 Sterling Avenue in Kansas City, Missouri.
Both victims were transported to a local hospital, where they succumbed to their injuries. A third individual was also injured in the shooting but is expected to survive.
