On December 28, 2023, at approximately 11:30 p.m., St. Louis Metropolitan Police officers responded to reports of a shooting near the 1400 block of North 1st Street, close to Cass Avenue in the Near North Riverfront neighborhood. Upon arrival, they discovered 47-year-old Claude Adams with a gunshot wound to the head. Adams was pronounced dead at the scene.
