On March 9, 2024, at approximately 1 a.m., St. Louis police responded to reports of a shooting near The Grove entertainment district. Upon arrival at the intersection of Arco and South Newstead avenues, officers discovered 42-year-old Harris Kratzer lying on the sidewalk with a gunshot wound to his chest. He was promptly transported to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
