On April 7, 2024, 18-year-old Raymond James Rucker III of Kansas City, Missouri, was fatally shot in Raytown. The incident occurred around 5:11 p.m. in the 9000 block of East 85th Place, where police responded to reports of gunfire. Approximately an hour later, Rucker was transported by private vehicle to a local hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.
Investigations revealed that Rucker had arranged to meet 16-year-old Alvphonz K. Spotwood from Grandview for a firearm exchange.
