In the early morning hours of April 18, 2024, a violent tragedy unfolded in the Delmar Loop entertainment district of St. Louis, Missouri. Cortez Jackson, a 29-year-old Black male, was present in the 6100 block of Delmar Boulevard when a shooting broke out shortly after 2:00 a.m. The area, known for its vibrant nightlife and cultural attractions, became the scene of a triple shooting that drew an immediate response from the St.
Louis Metropolitan Police Department.
Upon arriving at the scene, officers discovered Jackson unresponsive and suffering from fatal gunshot wounds. Despite the emergency response, he was pronounced dead at the location, marking a somber moment for the community and his grieving family. Two other victims, identified as women in their twenties, were also struck by gunfire during the chaos. They were subsequently transported to a local hospital for treatment of their injuries and were expected to survive the ordeal.
