On the night of May 20, 2024, 37-year-old Sammie Lewis Jr. was fatally shot in his residence on the 5500 block of Louisiana Avenue in St. Louis' Carondelet neighborhood. Responding officers from the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department discovered Lewis with multiple gunshot wounds; he was pronounced dead at the scene.
