On a summer evening in St. Louis, Missouri, 50-year-old Jamieko Thompson, a male, was on the parking lot of the Elite Market & Grill in the Hamilton Heights neighborhood. It was shortly before 9:15 p.m. on June 26, 2024, at the intersection of Union and Ridge avenues, a scene that would soon be sealed by crime tape. Gunshots suddenly shattered the evening quiet, leaving chaos and tragedy in their wake. When police officers arrived, summoned by a call for a shooting, they found Mr.
Thompson and another 51-year-old man suffering from gunshot wounds.
Emergency medical services pronounced Jamieko Thompson deceased at the scene. The 51-year-old victim was transported to a hospital and was listed in stable condition. Later, officers were informed that a third victim, a 41-year-old man, had also been shot and was taken to a hospital in a private vehicle; he was also listed in stable condition. The violent encounter had left one man dead and two others injured, launching a homicide investigation into the sudden loss of life.
In the months that followed, St. Louis Metropolitan Police homicide detectives have been working to piece together the events of that fatal night. In February 2025, authorities released security camera images and video to the public, seeking help in identifying two men wanted in connection with the shooting. The footage shows the two suspects walking in the area, and a photograph captures one of them pointing a gun with a visible muzzle flash. As of the latest reports, no arrests have been made in the case.
