In the summer of 2015, the life of Orlando Bernard, a 28-year-old Black man, was tragically cut short in a burst of violence on a St. Louis street. On the morning of Monday, June 29th, police were called to the 2200 block of Benton Street where they discovered Bernard inside a home, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He had been shot in the torso, hands, and legs.
Emergency services responded to the scene, but Bernard's injuries were too severe, and he was pronounced dead.
At the time of the incident, the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department initiated a homicide investigation, which they stated was ongoing.
