Jeffery Avant, a 35-year-old resident of East St. Louis, was tragically shot and killed on December 29, 2022. The incident occurred in the Carr Square neighborhood of St. Louis, specifically in the 1800 block of Cass Avenue. Officers responded to a call around 1:30 p.m. and found Avant with a gunshot wound to his chest. He was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
