On June 30, 2024, at approximately 9:45 p.m., Kansas City police responded to reports of a shooting near East 51st Street and Park Avenue. Upon arrival, officers discovered 79-year-old Ella Monroe unresponsive inside a vehicle at the intersection. She had sustained critical gunshot injuries and was immediately transported to a local hospital.
