In the small community of Eolia, Missouri, a tragic event unfolded in the early hours of July 27, 2024, ending the life of 26-year-old Kaitlyn Potter-Navratil. Just after midnight, deputies from the Pike County Sheriff's Office were dispatched to a residence on Collage Circle Drive following a 911 call reporting a shooting. Upon their arrival, they discovered Kaitlyn and another individual, Timothy Todd, also 26, had been fatally shot.
According to witnesses at the scene, an argument had broken out at the home. Matthew Garrett Todd, the father of Timothy Todd, allegedly asked his son and Kaitlyn to leave the residence. When they did not comply, he reportedly fired three shots into the ceiling before turning the weapon on his son and Potter-Navratil. Matthew Todd was arrested at the scene without incident and has since been charged with first-degree murder, domestic assault, unlawful use of a weapon, and armed criminal action.
Kaitlyn, a resident of Silex, Missouri, was described by her family as an outgoing person who never met a stranger and had a laugh that could instantly be recognized as her own. She was a graduate of Winfield High School and was employed at Sam's Club in Wentzville. She was a new mother, leaving behind a young son. Her sudden and violent death has left her family and friends to navigate an unexpected and profound loss.
