On July 30, 2024, 17-year-old Therrell "TJ" Jackson was fatally shot in a drive-by shooting in Avondale, Missouri, a town just northeast of North Kansas City. The incident occurred around 9 p.m. in the 3200 block of Northeast Excelsior Street. Multiple 911 calls reported the sound of gunfire, and upon arrival, deputies found Jackson suffering from gunshot wounds. He was transported to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.
