On the evening of Tuesday, July 30, 2024, 17-year-old Therrell K. 'TJ' Jackson Jr. was visiting friends in the small Northland community of Avondale, just outside Kansas City, Missouri. A resident of Kansas City known for his infectious smile and plans to enter the construction trade, Jackson was walking near the 3200 block of Northeast Excelsior Street when the quiet of the summer night was shattered by gunfire.
