In the early morning hours of July 1, 2019, the life of 59-year-old Reginald Rembert, a male resident of Kansas City, Missouri, was tragically cut short. Police responded to calls of shots fired shortly before 6 a.m. and discovered Rembert's body on a sidewalk near the intersection of 35th Street and Montgall Avenue. He had sustained an apparent gunshot wound.
His death marked the 66th homicide in Kansas City that year.
Reginald, known to friends and family as 'Rat' or 'Bert,' was remembered as a talented and creative individual. A freelance artist, he was known for his skill in drawing and painting portraits, as well as remodeling and painting homes. He was also a self-taught musician, proficient with the keyboard, drums, and guitar, and enjoyed sharing his musical knowledge with others. He found joy in performing magic tricks, listening to music, and fishing. Above all, he was a devoted father and grandfather who cherished the time he spent with his children and grandchildren.
Despite the violent nature of his death, information regarding the investigation has been scarce. At the time of the incident, police had no suspect information to release to the public. In the years that have followed, there have been no publicly available updates regarding any arrests, persons of interest, or charges filed in connection with the murder of Reginald Rembert.
