In the summer of 2018, the life of 25-year-old Keith Edward Wasmer was tragically cut short in Kansas City, Missouri. A father of four young children, Sophia, Samuel, Jackson, and Capri, Wasmer was known by his loved ones for his kind heart and his enjoyment of grilling, cars, fishing, and football.
The circumstances surrounding his death began to unfold after he and his friend, 29-year-old Michael Brewer, were reported missing.
A week later, on August 15, 2018, their bodies were discovered in a wooded area near Longview Lake. Both men had been shot, leading the Kansas City Police Department to classify the case as a double homicide. At the time of his death, Wasmer was engaged to be married to Brewer's sister, Charlsea Brewer.
Despite the violent nature of the crime, the investigation into the murders of Keith Wasmer and Michael Brewer has remained unsolved. To date, no arrests have been made, and no suspects have been publicly identified by law enforcement. The lack of progress has been a source of ongoing anguish for Wasmer's family, especially his mother, Shannon Wasmer. She has become a vocal advocate for justice for her son, participating in events with KC Mothers in Charge, a nonprofit organization that supports families affected by violence.
The family continues to hold memorial events to keep his memory alive and to bring attention to the unsolved case.
