In the early morning hours of February 22, 2023, a 911 call shattered the pre-dawn quiet in Gloucester Township, New Jersey, reporting a shooting on the 800 block of the North Black Horse Pike. When officers arrived at the scene around 3:05 a.m., they found a man suffering from gunshot wounds. The victim was identified as 28-year-old Tarik Green, a Black male from Millville. He was rushed to Jefferson Hospital in nearby Stratford, but tragically, he was pronounced deceased at 4:43 a.m.
The investigation into the violent death of Green, who was affectionately known as 'Bean,' was a collaborative effort between the Camden County Prosecutor's Office Homicide Unit and the Gloucester Township Police Department. Their in-depth work led them to identify a suspect in the fatal shooting.
Less than a month after the incident, the investigation culminated in an arrest.
On March 15, 2023, Kacy Banks, a 26-year-old resident of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, was taken into custody in his home city by the U.S. Marshals Service New York/New Jersey Regional Fugitive Task Force. Authorities charged Banks with first-degree murder, second-degree robbery, and second-degree unlawful possession of a weapon in connection with Tarik Green's death. Following his arrest, Banks was held in custody in Philadelphia, awaiting extradition to New Jersey to face the charges against him.
