On the evening of August 7, 2024, the life of 31-year-old Montel Lee of Camden, New Jersey, was tragically cut short. At approximately 7:49 p.m., the sound of gunfire pierced the air in the 800 block of Morgan Street, prompting a ShotSpotter activation and a response from the Camden County Police Department.
Upon their arrival, officers discovered Mr. Lee inside a vehicle, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
He was rushed to Cooper University Hospital in a desperate attempt to save his life. Despite the efforts of medical personnel, Montel Lee was pronounced deceased at 8:00 p.m.
Detectives from the Camden County Prosecutor's Office Homicide Unit and the Camden County Police Department immediately launched an investigation into the fatal shooting. The authorities have described the investigation as active and ongoing. At this time, no suspects have been publicly identified, and no arrests have been announced in connection with the homicide. Law enforcement officials have appealed to the public for any information that may lead to the apprehension of those responsible for Mr. Lee's death.
