On March 4, 2023, 20-year-old Justice Kegan Kilel was fatally shot at the Sunshine MiniMart on Cherry Avenue in Charlottesville, Virginia. Kilel, a resident of Gordonsville and a graduate of Fork Union Military Academy, was inside the store when two individuals entered and assaulted him. During the altercation, Kilel was shot and pronounced dead at the scene.
