In the early hours of March 8, 2023, the life of 19-year-old Jesse E. Tidwell of Newport News was tragically cut short in a fatal shooting in Hampton, Virginia. The incident unfolded in the 1500 block of Briarfield Road, where Tidwell and another 19-year-old man from Norfolk were confronted by at least one armed individual. As the two men attempted to flee in their vehicle, shots were fired, striking both of them.
