On April 24, 2023, 21-year-old Shaun Michael Hankins II was found fatally shot behind Saint Paul's Baptist Church in Petersburg, Virginia. Officers responded to the 20 block of Leavenworth Street just before 2 a.m., discovering Hankins lying on the ground with a gunshot wound; he was pronounced dead at the scene.
