In the summer of 2023, the life of 16-year-old Markell “Muggy” Holt, a male student at Highland Springs High School in Henrico, Virginia, was tragically cut short. On June 21, Holt was fatally wounded in a shooting that stunned the local community. The circumstances surrounding his death were particularly heartbreaking for his family, who believe the person responsible was a boy they had welcomed into their home and were trying to help.
