On September 1, 2023, a tragic incident occurred in Sterling, Virginia, resulting in the death of 18-year-old Alex Omar Cartagena Jr. The Loudoun County Sheriff's Office responded to reports of a shooting in the Stanford Square area of Sterling. Upon arrival, deputies found Cartagena Jr. suffering from gunshot wounds to the chest.
