On November 25, 2023, at approximately 9:40 p.m., Portsmouth Police responded to reports of a shooting in the 800 block of Stratford Street, a residential area in the Cavalier Manor neighborhood. Upon arrival, officers discovered 29-year-old Tayontrae A. Baker suffering from a gunshot wound. He was promptly transported to a local hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.
