In the early morning hours in Richmond, Virginia, the sound of gunshots pierced the pre-dawn quiet. There, two men were found suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. One of these men was 46-year-old Ricky Dewitt. Both he and the other injured man were quickly transported to a local hospital for medical attention. Despite the efforts of medical personnel, Ricky Dewitt succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead. The second victim sustained injuries that were not considered to be life-threatening.
Richmond Police detectives have identified the deceased as Ricky Dewitt of Richmond. The incident is being investigated as a homicide and an aggravated assault.
