On a tragic evening in Portsmouth, Virginia, 18-year-old Ameerah Mari Green was fatally shot, becoming a victim of gun violence that erupted on January 9, 2024. The incident, which took place on Greenway Court East, also claimed the life of 42-year-old Earl Lovell Martin Sr. and left two other individuals wounded, sending shockwaves through the local community.
Initial inquiries by the Portsmouth Police Department led them to name Ameerah's mother, Holly Jean Berry, as a person of interest in the case. According to family members, Berry had seemingly vanished in the aftermath of the shooting, adding a layer of complexity to the early stages of the investigation.
