In the early hours of February 26, 2024, the life of 18-year-old Aidan Christopher Cameron of Henrico, Virginia, was tragically cut short. Just after midnight, Henrico Police responded to a call about a shooting in the 1600 block of Lakeside Avenue. Upon arrival, officers discovered Cameron in a yard behind an apartment building, suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. Life-saving measures were initiated at the scene, and he was quickly transported to a local hospital. Despite these efforts, Aidan Christopher Cameron succumbed to his injuries that morning. He was a male who had recently and successfully acquired his GED.
The investigation into the homicide led Henrico Police to identify three suspects in connection with the fatal shooting. Two individuals, 18-year-old Jaiden Akiva-Nadir Fowlkes and 21-year-old Diamond Chrishell Henley, both from Henrico, were taken into custody. They were each charged with second-degree murder and the use of a firearm in the commission of a felony. The search for a third suspect, Travis Lamar Paige, Jr., then began.
On March 15, 2024, the investigation culminated in the arrest of the third and final suspect. Travis Lamar Paige, Jr., a 22-year-old from Richmond, was apprehended and faced the same charges as his alleged accomplices: second-degree murder and the use of a firearm in the commission of a felony. Paige, described as a Black male, was subsequently held at the Henrico County Jail West. The arrests brought a measure of progress in a case that left a community mourning the loss of a young life to gun violence.
