In the Campostella area of Norfolk, Virginia, on the evening of February 27, 2024, a burst of violence cut short the life of Denard Stephenson Jr., a 25-year-old Black male from Chesapeake. Shortly after 7:41 p.m., Norfolk Police were dispatched to the 300 block of Harbor Pointe Court following reports of a shooting. Upon their arrival at the Harbor Pointe Apartment Complex, officers discovered Stephenson suffering from a life-threatening gunshot wound.
