In the early morning hours of April 6, 2024, the life of Kyron Hoskey, a 28-year-old male, was tragically cut short in a residence on North 23rd Street in Richmond, Virginia. Police officers responded to a call about a person shot at approximately 3:19 a.m. and discovered Hoskey inside the home, suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. Despite the efforts of first responders, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Hoskey was a former standout linebacker who played football at Hermitage
High School and had signed a letter of intent to play at Virginia Union. The medical examiner was tasked with determining the official cause and manner of his death. Friends and family expressed their devastation over what they described as a senseless act of violence. Hoskey was reportedly shot nine times during an argument.
The investigation into the homicide led to the identification of a suspect. Juwan Lewis, a 28-year-old from Richmond, was arrested in connection with Hoskey's death. A grand jury indicted Lewis on charges of murder, use of a firearm in the commission of a murder, and discharging a firearm into an occupied building.
