On April 11, 2024, at approximately 5:37 p.m., Chesterfield County Police responded to a reported shooting in the 15100 block of Broadwater Way in Chesterfield County, Virginia. Upon arrival, officers found 16-year-old Christopher M. Gates III suffering from a gunshot wound. Despite officers rendering aid at the scene, Gates, who resided in the 15200 block of Timsberry Terrace, was transported to a local hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries.
