In the early morning hours of June 6, 2024, the life of 35-year-old Kevin Demontry Toler Sr., a Black male, was tragically cut short. Richmond police were called to the 2900 block of Chamberlayne Avenue at approximately 9:02 a.m. following reports of gunfire in the area. Upon their arrival, they discovered Mr. Toler on the ground, having sustained a gunshot wound.
Despite the efforts of first responders, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Kevin Demontry Toler Sr., born on January 13, 1989, was a beloved father, son, and brother. He is survived by his son, Kevin 'KJ' Toler Jr., his sister, and two brothers. His family had previously endured the loss of his grandmother, mother, and a cousin.
The Richmond Police Department is actively investigating the shooting death of Mr. Toler. To date, authorities have not publicly identified any suspects in the case, and no arrests have been made. The investigation remains ongoing as they seek to bring closure to his grieving family and community.
