On July 15, 2024, at approximately 12:15 a.m., Hampton Police responded to reports of gunfire in the 100 block of Atlantic Avenue, near Fort Monroe and Buckroe Beach. Upon arrival, officers discovered a vehicle that had veered off the roadway, crashed through a fence, and come to rest in a marsh near Thimble Shoals Court. Inside the vehicle, they found 19-year-old Nasir J. Mosley of Newport News, Virginia, deceased from apparent gunshot wounds.
