On the evening of July 17, 2024, in Portsmouth, Virginia, emergency services responded to a call regarding a break-in and a shooting. The incident occurred in the 700 block of North Street, where police discovered a man suffering from a fatal gunshot wound. The victim was identified as 40-year-old Breon Grant, a male resident of the city.
