In the quiet of a Sunday morning in Chesterfield County, Virginia, a tragedy unfolded that cut short the life of a young woman. On July 28, 2024, police were called to an apartment in the 700 block of Boulder Springs Drive following reports of a shooting. Inside, they discovered 24-year-old Janya Richardson and a man, both suffering from gunshot wounds. Medics pronounced Richardson dead at the scene, her life abruptly ended in what should have been the safety of her own home.
