On August 14, 2024, at approximately 6:20 p.m., Norfolk police responded to reports of a shooting at Community Beach Park, located at 700 E. Ocean View Avenue. Upon arrival, officers learned that 20-year-old Andrew F. Saafi had been transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries. Despite medical efforts, Saafi succumbed to his injuries shortly thereafter.
