On the evening of November 6, 2024, in Newport News, Virginia, a violent encounter cut short the life of 33-year-old Jonathon Demarus Powell. At approximately 10:30 p.m., the sound of gunfire prompted calls to the Newport News Police Department, directing them to the Admiral Pointe Apartments on River Road. Upon their arrival, officers discovered Powell suffering from what appeared to be a fatal gunshot wound. Despite the immediate response, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
