In the early morning hours of Saturday, November 9, 2024, a burst of violence at the Ten 10 Restaurant and Lounge in Danville, Virginia, claimed the life of 33-year-old Damion Quayshaud Reed. Reed, a Black male, was found by police officers responding to a 2:39 a.m. call, suffering from a gunshot wound to his upper body. He was transported from the scene but was pronounced dead.
The shooting incident left two other individuals wounded.
A 50-year-old security guard sustained a gunshot wound to his leg. Another man, age 37, was shot in the arm and arrived at the hospital by a private vehicle. The Danville Police Department quickly launched a homicide investigation into the chaotic events that unfolded at the restaurant located in the 1000 block of Piney Forest Road.
In the wake of the shooting, investigators identified a suspect and sought public assistance in locating him. The man, 28-year-old Khaleel Latwain Rodgers, Jr., was considered armed and dangerous. The following evening, on Sunday, November 10, 2024, Rodgers turned himself in to the authorities.
Khaleel Latwain Rodgers, Jr. was arrested and is being held in the Danville City Jail without bond. He is facing charges of second-degree murder, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, and reckless handling of a firearm. The investigation into the shooting that ended Damion Quayshaud Reed's life is ongoing, and authorities have encouraged anyone with information to come forward.
