In the early hours of a Saturday in Roanoke, Virginia, the life of 23-year-old Brian Keith Stone Jr., a Black male, was tragically cut short by gun violence on November 9, 2024. Stone was privately transported to a local hospital with gunshot wounds. Despite the efforts of medical staff, he succumbed to his injuries shortly after his arrival.
The Roanoke Police Department determined that the shooting occurred in the 800 block of Hunt Avenue NW.
Later that same day, authorities arrested 28-year-old Dominique Devon Campbell of Roanoke in connection with Stone's death. Campbell was subsequently charged with second-degree murder and is being held without bond at the Roanoke City Adult Detention Center.
Brian Keith Stone Jr. was remembered as a father, fiancé, son, and friend. His passing left a significant void in the lives of his loved ones. A funeral service to honor his memory was held on November 23, 2024, at The Garden of Prayer No. 7 Vision of Faith Ministries in Roanoke. A fundraising campaign was also initiated by his fiancée and mother to assist the family with funeral expenses.
